I’m Sarah Jay, a conservationist, writer, and environmental educator living in Denton, Texas. I’m an occasional landscaper, and propagate wild plants native to the Cross Timbers and Blackland Prairie ecoregions. I am fascinated by the intersections between cultivated edible plants, and wild-foraged foods and medicines.

As a Texas Master Naturalist, and a co-project manager with the Texas PETAL Project, I work to restore and bolster native ecosystems and community mutual aid networks. I spend time at Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center, where much of that restoration work takes place. With other PETAL volunteers, I maintain a community garden at a local church.
